What is “ Cut It Out” all about ?
Some time ago I started collecting packaging from dry food items. The titles of the drawings give you a clue. It was during Covid that I had the time and inspiration to work with these materials. In creating these drawings I have incorporated collage techniques, along with pen and ink and markers. I see them as abstract drawings.
In this series my artistic process was spontaneous. I began cutting random shapes from the packaging, then I began to draw. I would rotate the packaging to work in the round. Every mark influenced the next step in the creative process. Because of the unconventional material- the packaging, these works are both lyrical and serious.
