Accumulation is a collection of works that investigate the concepts around society’s detritus, consumerism and obsolescence as it relates to knowledge and skill in culture.
I accumulate and alter used up materials and assemble them into sculptures. Each sculpture might suggest a tool or a certain application of a tool. They are metaphors for dexterity and knowledge.
My use of salvaged materials is not born out of nostalgia for the past. The material itself is a way to emotionally charge the art work with historical evidence in response to urban sprawl, consumption, place and time.
