My paintings cultivate the power of color to evoke the vibrancy and energy of nature.
The landscape is my point of departure. My process starts by making small,
sketchbook-sized paintings on location at local wetlands. From there, the creative
process takes over, where my attention shifts to dynamic compositional movement,
creating rhythm through like visual elements, and exaggerating color interactions. I
become less interested in capturing the mere appearance of these wetland areas and
more interested in what these areas represent – refuge, rejuvenation, and the dynamic
energy of nature.
My artistic process transcends the landscape as being defined by a specific place but
rather expresses our shared connection to nature.
