Scotty Peek is a painter living in Columbia SC. His paintings usually begin from life or photo, but often abandon the reference to freely explore abstraction and non-representation. This begins a reality-to-abstraction back-and-forth, possibly working from the reference again, deciding what's important, what's not, until the painting, while grounded in reality, offers something beyond a direct representation.
Scotty received his Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of South Carolina in 2000 and his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Austin Peay State University (TN) in 1995.
